2006 Range Rover Sport – Over Finch Edition

Correct, Refine and Shine Detail + Re-badging, Brake reconditioning and recolouring and wheel refurbishment.

Having chatted with the owner at length about this requirements and frustrations at not being able to achieve his desired condition and shine, the car was booked in for a full exterior detail with Zaino finishing and the removal of the faded badging and precise re-badging with fresh lettering.

After inspecting the vehicles paint work for defects and paint thickness’s, it was soon apparent that the depth of the defects would need a lot of work and maybe the need for wet sanding. On to the deep cleanse and de-contamination stages.

Initial shots of condition before hand…

Once washed the car could be clayed to rid any bonded contaminates…

As you can see its looking very sorry for itself with the paint work looking very grey, lettering missing and wheels in need of a refurb. Once washed down, the letting and registration plates were removed so that the glue residue could be removed.

Using various products and tools the residue didn’t stand a chance.

Once removed, the RRS was moved inside, where it was prep’d ready for the correction stages. This would involve 3 machine correction stages to rid the swirls, scratches and marring; refine the paint from the first stage and then finishing to jewel the paint to a lush deep wet shine, leaving the paint defect free.

Scratch, swirl and marring defects in the paint…

After first machine polishing process…

Front end corrected after lettering removal…

Good picture showing the affects of swirls and marring on the paint. Note how grey and flat the paint appears…

Also the paint work suffered over spray from when the lower door side skirts were colour coded to the car…

Rear of the car corrected…

Once the paint was corrected, efforts were then turned to the clear plastic light lenses on the car which were also badly swirled and scratched.

These were then corrected and transformed…

With the paintwork corrected and refined, the final stage of the machine work was carried out… Fine deep shine before products are to be layered up.

Once complete it was outside to wash off an polish residue left from the three correction stages.

Once dried and inside again, it was time to very precisely attach the fresh lettering…

Once complete, the paint was layered with Zaino z2, z5 and all in one then finished with z8. The finished detail…

Wheel and brake refurbishment write up arriving soon.
